The world premiere of Woody Allen's new film, Melindaand Melinda, is set to open Spain'sSan Sebastián Film Festival on September 17.

Allen himself, currently filming in London, will attend thescreening.

The premiere of Melinda and Melinda spearheads the festival's extensive tribute toAllen, showing all of his work as a director, actor and writer from 1966 to thepresent date.

Speaking from London, Allen said: "Spanish people havealways supported my films and it is a great honour for me to take part in theSan Sebastian Film Festival. My family and I loved [San Sebastian] the lasttime we were there and we expect to have a wonderful time."

San Sebastian's director Mikel Olaciregui noted:"It's an enormous honour, a dream come true, to open our festivalwith the premiere of Melinda and Melinda,and in the presence of Woody Allen, undoubtedly one of the greatest filmdirectors of all time."

Starring Will Ferrell, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Chloe Sevigny andJonny Lee Miller, Melinda and Melindawill not be in competition at San Sebastian, which celebrates its 52nd yearthis September and wraps on the 25th. Melinda and Melinda is the first title announced by the festival.
