The US premiere of Gilles Paquet-Brenner’s drama Sarah’s Key starring Kristin Scott Thomas will open the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

The Holocaust film premiered in Toronto and is based on Tatiana de Rosnay’s bestseller about a journalist who tries to track down a person she believes may have survived the Holocaust.

The Weinstein Company will release the film in 2011. SBIFF runs from January 27-February 6.
