Konda Mason and Eva Georgia's US-based Savanna Films, a production company set up to create socially conscious films and television, will produce the documentary Madame President about the world's female heads of state.

Los Angeles-base FilmBankers International (FBI) will assist in seeking financing and distribution for the project, which is planned as a theatrical release and television series and scheduled for completion in autumn 2009.

'Women as heads of state are multiplying in unparalleled numbers and our documentary keeps growing as more women ascend to the top of governments,' Mason said.

The United Nations Development Program and The Council of Women World Leaders have pledged production support for the project, which will document the stories of all 11 of the world's currently seated women presidents and prime ministers.

'We have our first female presidential candidate in the US as well as more female leaders worldwide than ever before,' FBI president Brenda Doby-Flewellyn said. 'This documentary couldn't be timelier and FBI is delighted to be associated with the production.'
