Scott Caan's Dallas 362 took the Critics Award and Juliette Marquis, the star of ThisGirl's Life won aspecial Newcomer Actor Award at the fifth annual CineVegas International FilmFestival, which closed on Saturday (Jun 21).
Dallas 362is a semi-autobiographical account exploring the dynamics of the modernAmerican family and the search for belonging. It marks the directorial debut ofCaan, the actor son of James Caan whose credits include Ocean's Eleven and Gone In 60 Seconds.
Caan also wrote the film whichstars himself, Shawn Hatosy, Jeff Goldblum, Kelly Lynch and Selma Blair.
The Critics Award is presented to a US feature without a US distributiondeal. This year's jury comprised Mike Goodridge, US editor of ScreenInternational, Holly Willis of RES Magazine and Gary Dretzka from the ChicagoTribune.
Marquis' specialhonour was for her role as a philosophical porn star in This Girl's Life, written and directed by Ash.
