The Film Department has appointed former Adelstein Productions film chief Scott Nemes as vice president of production and development.

Nemes, who reports directly to The Film Department's president of production Robert Katz, previously set up projects at Adelstein with a range of studios and financiers.

He also served as executive producer on Dimension's Black Christmas and is a producer on The Experiment, the English-language remake of Oliver Hirschbiegel's 2001 Das Experiment.

Prior to Adelstein, Nemes developed the Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line with James Mangold, served at Immortal Entertainment, worked with director Penny Marshall and helped developed such films as Cinderella Man for Universal, Bewitched for Columbia, and the HBO film Live From Baghdad.

'Scott has a remarkable breadth and depth of relationships with talent across the spectrum of our business and a very strong sense of what makes a great script,' Katz said. 'We're delighted to welcome him to our team.'
