Senator Entertainment will bring the Capcom survival horror video game Clock Tower to the big screen under the direction of Martin Weisz (The Hills Have Eyes 2) from a screenplay by Eric Poppen (Borderland).

Principal photography is set to begin in July on the psychological thriller which will be produced by Senator board member Marco Weber and Head of Production Vanessa Coifman, with Capcom's Haruhiro Tsujimoto and Anthony Mosawi and Brad Luff of The Mayhem Project serving as executive producers.

International distribution rights on the film are being handled by The Weinstein Company.

While drawing on elements from all of the franchise's games for its inspiration, the Clock Tower feature film is largely based on the Clock Tower 2: The Struggle Within game.

This project sees producer Weber reunited with director Weisz after their collaboration on the 2006 film Butterfly, A Grimm Love Story (Rohtenburg) which was inspired by the case of the 'cannibal of Rotenburg' Armin Meiwes who obtained a temporary injunction banning the film from German cinemas.

'I am excited to be able to work with Martin again on a commercial project,' Weber said. 'The screenplay is gripping and Martin has a vision that we believe will please both the hardcore fans as well as those people coming into contact with these characters for the first time.'
