Jackie Chan's latest film, The Tuxedo opened with a record $586,665 (S$1.05m) in Singapore last weekend, the territory's biggest-ever September opening.

The Tuxedo, directed by Kevin Donovan, scored a stellar average of $22,564 from 26 screens. It tells the story of a millionaire's chauffeur (Chan) who tries on his boss' prized tuxedo and is thrown into a dangerous world of espionage. Also starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, The Tuxedo beat all Chan's previous US film openings in Singapore, including the two Rush Hour films.

The film also opened in North America this week where it had a three-day gross of $15.1m. The Tuxedo launches in the Philippines this weekend and reaches its first major international territory with Mexico on Nov 15.
