UK outfit Soda Pictures has revealed further details of its new sister company Soda Film + Art, which has been set up to bring its arts and film interests closer together.

The company is to be run by curator/producer Elena Hill, who will work closely with Soda principals Eve Gabereau and Ed Fletcher.

Soda Film + Art is currently preparing a feature doc about celebrated London restaurant St Johns founded by Fergus Henderson and famous for its “nose to tail” eating and offal-dominated menu. TJ Wilcox will direct. Soda will be working with Wilcox’s gallery Sadie Coles. A treatment is already in place.

Soda Film + Art has also already picked up The Lebanese Rocket Society [pictured] by Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige.

Omer Fast (whose short Continuity screened in Rotterdam last month) is also lined up to work with the new company.

Soda Film + Art will produce as well as distribute work. While releasing some projects in traditional fashion, the company will also explore other forms of distribution. These are likely to include “limited edition” versions of some of the work. The company will also work with galleries and museums. Alongside film showings, the aim is to organize exhibitions and installations.

Soda Film + Art will act as producer of some of its art films. On others, it will work as agent/broker, using its film contacts to bring artists together with potential sales agents and producer partners.
