Nikkatsu’s Sushi Typhoon to start sales on Sion Sono’s Cold Fish.

Cold Fish, the latest film from cult Japanese director Sion Sono (Love Exposure) is starting sales here through Nikkatsu’s Sushi Typhoon label.

The serial killer drama stars Mitsuru Fukikoshi as a man forced to be accomplice in a series of grisly murders when his daughter is taken hostage by the killer (Denden).

Promoted as unflinching  portrait of violence and madness, the story is partially based on a true case. Cold Fish is currently in post-production and is expected to be completed at the end of March.

Sono is a Berlinale favourite since his debut feature Bicycle Sighs screened in 1990. Strange Circus was in Forum in 2006 and the four-hour opus Love Exposure won the FIPRESCI and Caligari prizes last year.
