Sony Pictures Classics has confirmed the acquisition from The Little Film Company of Davis Guggenheim's music documentary It Might Get Loud.

SPC has taken rights for North America, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa on the story of the evolution of the electric guitar featuring rock luminaries Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White.

Producer and Legendary Pictures chairman and CEO Thomas Tull conceived the project and approached Guggenheim to direct. The film premiered at Toronto.

'It Might Get Loud is a music lover's dream,' SPC said in a statement. 'The film covers three generations of guitar players and our plan is to attract the three generations of fans when we open the film next summer.'

Tull and Guggenheim produced with Lesley Chilcott and Peter Afterman while Bert Ellis and Michael Mailis served as executive producers.
