The Consequences Of Love director Paolo Sorrentinois lining up a new film about a loan shark, entitled L'amico Di Famiglia(literally, A Friend of the Family).

It will be Sorrentino's third feature, and is set to shootin October in Latina, near Rome. Thepicture will be produced by Sorrentino's regular partner, Nicola Giuliano ofIndigo Film, and Fandango's Domenico Procacci. Medusa is producing.

"L'amico Di Famiglia will tell the story of a loanshark who uses his job as a tailor as a cover for his illegal activities,"Sorrentino says, underlining that the main character will be extremely ugly,"both on the outside and on the inside."

"He's not an haute couture tailor. He simply mends trousersand in the meantime he sneaks into the lives of the small town's inhabitants.Just like a family friend, who visits his near and dear and flatters them whileloaning money to them at exorbitant interest rates so that they can gamble atthe Casino or pay for a face lift," he said.

Sorrentino, who was speaking at the Taormina Film Festival wherehe was on hand to receive an award for The Consequences Of Love, pointedout that unlike his two previous features, L'amico Di Famiglia will notstar critically-acclaimed actor Toni Servillo.

"[At 46], Toni Servillo is too good-looking and tooyoung to play the part of a repugnant 60-year-old," he said.

The film will also feature a good-looking young woman who sparksoff a fatal attraction with the loan shark.

Earlier this year, TheConsequences Of Love won five Donatellos, Italy's Oscar equivalents.
