A strong third weekend inItaly was the key driver for Columbia's Spider-Man 2 at the weekend as it added $2.5m from allterritories for a $403.2m international running total.

The action sequel remainedtop in Italy for its third weekend in a row with a $2.3m haul through ColumbiaTriStar Film Distributors International (CTFDI) that raised the total there to$21m.

Spider-Man 2 passed $400m on Sept 28, although it still has someway to go to match the 2002 original's final international running total of$418m.

The comedy White Chicks grossed $1.4m on 456 screens in nine territories,powered by a second place $618,000 debut in Mexico on 270 screens. Theinternational cumulative total stands at $6.8m.

The crime thriller LayerCake opened in third place in the UKon $1.9m on 355 screens including previews, while Hellboy grossed $2.7m for $33.1m powered by a $1.8m secondplace debut in Spain, and Resident Evil: Apocalypse added $3.6m for $27.3m.
