Stefan Arndt, producer of German hit Good Bye, Lenin! will be named European producer of the year at the 2003 Cinema Expo European exhibition conference, held June 23-26 at Amsterdam's RAI convention centre.
A critical hit at this year's Berlinale, Good Bye, Lenin! has taken more than Euros 34.8m at the German box office and this month won a record-breaking nine Lolas at the German Film Awards.
Producer Arndt is co-founder and co-owner of Germany's X-Filme Creative Pool. The Cine Expo award is jointly sponsored by Media Salles.
The conference will also honour X2: X-Men United's Famke Janssen as international star of the year.
Previously announced honorees include Richard Segal, chief executive of the UK's largest circuit Odeon, as exhibitor of the year; and Mark Zucker, senior executive vice president of Columbia TriStar Film Distributors International, as distributor of the year.
