The Stockholm International Film Festival will present the 2010 Stockholm Visionary Award to director Gus Van Sant.

“It is a dream come true to have Gus Van Sant visit the Festival. His films and visions of an alternative America is a celebration of film art and have been a part of the Stockholm Film Festival for twenty years,” said Festival Director Git Scheynius.

Van Sant’s films include Drugstore Cowboy, Good Will Hunting, and Milk. His selections that have played in Stockholm in the past include My Own Private Idaho, To Die For, Allen Ginsberg’s Battle of the Skeletons, Paris Je T’aime, Elephant and Paranoid Park.

The Visionary award was created in 2004 and past recipients include Todd Solondz, Terry Gillian, Wes Anderson and Wong Kar Wai.
