ISLE OF MAN

Set up in 1995, the Isle of Man Film commission has helped establish the island as one of the busiest areas of film production in the British Isles.

It has recently hosted Things To Do Before You're 30, Colour Me Kubrick and The Libertine.

It has also set up a production fund much larger than any of the regional agencies: last year's Miss Potter raised 25% of its estimated $25m budget from the Isle of Man Film commission, and shot around 50% of its scenes on the island.

The variety of locations across what is a relatively small area is a further attraction, with the island boasting coastal, rural and town settings. The Film Commission can also help with permits. Notable features this year were the black comedy The Cottage and animation Iron Man, which also had backing from the island's Balley Beg studio.
