Warner China Film and Hong Kong's Emperor Motion Pictures are teaming up on this Chinese-language remake of New Line's kidnap thriller Cellular. Benny Chan is directing the $4.5m film with Louis Koo, Barbie Hsu and Liu Ye heading the cast.

An Empress And The Warriors Dir: Tony Siu-tung Ching

Directed by acclaimed action choreographer Tony Ching, this $15m martial-arts fantasy features a top Asian cast including Donnie Yen, Leon Lai and Kelly Chen. Scheduled for release in March, it concerns a siege on an ancient kingdom.

Missing Dir: Tsui Hark

This $8m romantic thriller was partly filmed at ancient underwater ruins off the coast of Japan, along with Hong Kong, Shanghai and Taiwan. In post-production, the film stars Lee Sin-je, Isabella Leong, Chang Chen and rising Chinese star Guo Xiao Dong.

The Nobles Dir: Feng Xiaogang

In his return to contemporary satirical comedy, Feng takes on China's nouveau riche. The story follows a rich man who attempts to learn about culture from an artist, only to discover he is a fraud. The cast includes Ge You, Jiang Wen and Shu Qi. Beijing-based Huayi Brothers is producing the film, which is in pre-production.

Painted Skin Dir: Gordon Chan

A remake of the 1965 Hong Kong film of the same title, which tells the story of a scholar's affair with a woman who turns out to be a bloodthirsty demon. The cast includes Donnie Yen, Zhou Xun and Chen Kun. In post-production, the film is produced by several Chinese partners with Hong Kong-based Salon Films and Singapore's Raintree Pictures.

Plastic City Dir: Yu Lik-wai

Set in Brazil, Plastic City follows a Japanese Brazilian as he struggles between his Asian gangster family and his childhood friends. The cast includes Huang Yi, Joe Odagiri and Chen Zhaorong. Beijing-based Xstream Films and Brazil's Gullane Films are co-producing the film, now in pre-production.

The Silver Medalist Dir: Ning Hao

Ning Hao's highly anticipated follow-up to sleeper hit Crazy Stone tells the story of a bicycle racer's encounters with gangsters and thieves. Scheduled for release in May, the film is co-produced by China Film Group and Warner China Film HG Corporation.

Sniper Dir: Dante Lam

A new style of police action thriller from the director of Heat Team and M, the story follows a police sniper who vows to take revenge after he is unjustly imprisoned. Richie Jen, Edison Chen and Huang Xiaoming head the cast. Local release is scheduled for May.

The Storm Riders II Dirs: Pang brothers

Fresh from directing Nicolas Cage in a remake of their crime thriller Bangkok Dangerous, the Pang brothers are preparing a sequel to Andrew Lau's 1998 martial arts fantasy The Storm Riders. Aaron Kwok and Ekin Cheng will reprise their roles in the $12m film, which starts shooting in March for delivery next year.
