Diffusion Pictures has acquired all UK rights from Ryan Kampe and Sylvain Tron's Visit Films to the drama Momma's Man following its London Film Festival screenings.

The film premiered at Sundance and tells of a man who visits his parents' loft apartment in Manhattan on a business trip and decides not to return to his wife and child. Matt Boren stars alongside director Azazel Jacobs' real parents Ken and Flo Jacobs.

Half Nelson producers Paul Mezey, Hunter Gray and Alex Orlovsky produced. Kampe brokered the deal with Nick Crossley of Diffusion.

On the eve of the AFM, Scandinavian sales powerhouse TrustNordisk has closed an all rights Russian deal on horror movie sequel Cold Prey 2 directed by Mats Stenberg with The Barnhill Group.

The film, which screens at AFM, enjoyed a robust opening in Norway last month, racking up over 180,000 admissions. Like its predecessor Cold Prey, the film is set high in the Norwegian mountains. A blood-covered woman has survived the slaughter of her friends. Frozen and weak, she struggles to get back to civilization. Even when she reaches hospital, her nightmare isn't over.

TrustNordisk is also reporting strong US interest in remake rights on another title on its AFM slate, The Candidate. The Copenhagen-set noir thriller, about a defence attorney who becomes a murder suspect and is forced to go on the run, recently screened at the London Film Festival and receives its market premiere here at the AFM.

Here in Santa Monica, the company will also be screening a promo reel of Hans-Christian Schmid's Storm as well as material from Max Manus, its epic film about the Norwegian Second World War hero who became a special agent and arranged sabotage missions against the Nazi occupiers.

Beverly Hills-based Bleiberg Entertainment will be tempting buyers here with Plum Pictures' Bart Got A Room starring William H Macy, Cheryl Hines and Steven Kaplan.

Macy plays a man who tries to find a prom date for his son after he learns that even the nerdiest boy in school has secured a date for the night and booked a hotel for the night. Brian Hecker's film premiered at Tribeca last April. Anchor Bay holds domestic rights.

Bleiberg's vice president of worldwide sales Roman Kopelevich and Shannon Banal and Nick Donnermeye brokered the deal with Christine Kim of Cinetic Media on behalf of Plum Pictures.

Bleiberg's slate includes Adam Resurrected starring Jeff Goldblum and Willem Dafoe and Danny Lerner's Israeli-French action thriller Kirot starring Olga Kurylenko from Quantum Of Solace.

Robyn Snyder has joined Santa Monica-based family entertainment company MarVista Entertainment as vice president of production and Paul Hazen has arrived as vice president of acquisitions and operations.

Snyder previously worked as worked as a consultant for MTV Networks' The N, ABC Family and the Disney Channel and will oversee all aspects of development and manage production on various projects. He reports to senior vice president of production Marc Lorber.

Michael Wilson has been promoted to manager of international sales and reports to senior vice president of international sales Vanessa Goglio.

Hazen served the past four years as a producers rep at Pierce Law Group where he was involved in the acquisition, negotiation and placement of more than 100 features. He reports to the company's president Michael Jacobs.

Japan's Nikkatsu is launching AFM sales on sexy comedy Lala Pipo, explaining the title sounds like 'a lot of people' to Japanese.

Based on the bestselling author Hideo Okudo's novel, the screenplay was written by Tetsuya Nakashima, director of Kamikaze Girls and Memories Of Matsuko.

The story follows a scout for adult movies who creates a porn star out of a department store clerk - which leads her to meet up with her nymphomaniac mother; a karaoke box employee who thinks he is a galactic superhero battling yakuza and high school girls, and a freelance writer, raising his son alone, who hooks up with an aspiring voice actress who also happens to appear in 'Fat Girl and Ugly Guy' porn series.

Nakashima's former assistant director Masayuki Miyano is directing, with Hiroki Narimiya (Nana, Sakuran) starring.

Lala Pipo is due out January 2009.

Toronto-based international sales agent Cinemavault is commencing talks with buyers this week on writer-director Ernesto Diaz Espinoza's US-Chilean superhero film Mirageman.

Martial arts expert and stuntman Marko Zaror, also known as The Latin Dragon, plays the eponymous masked superhero who battles a crime syndicate that terrorises his city. The film gets it market premiere at AFM.

Magnolia Pictures holds North American rights to Mirageman, which recently received its European premiere at the Sitges International Film Festival and opened in Chile through Bazuca Films.

'Marko's talent and skill is unmatched,' producer Derek Rundell said. 'At 6 ft 2 ins and 210 pounds it's magical to watch him move with such speed, power and style. We're thrilled about working with Cinemavault and introducing him to audiences worldwide.'
