Strand Releasing hasacquired US rights to Anahi Berneri's Argentina-set drama A Year WithoutLove (Un Ano Sin Amor) and Rodolphe Marconi's French romance The LastDay (Le Dernier Jour).

A Year Without Love premiered in the Berlinale's Panorama Section, where it won the Teddy Award for best feature for its chronicle of a young man'ssexual exploits in Buenos Aires.

Mimi Ardu and CarlosEchevarria star and Daniel Burman produced the picture, which was acquired byStrand Releasing co-president Jon Gerrans from Bavaria Film International'sThorsten Schaumann.

Strand previouslycollaborated with Bavaria on Head-On, Shake It All About, and The Child I Never Was.

The Last Day, which Strand acquired from Gemini Films, starsGaspard Ulliel and Nicole Garcia and tells of a young man's return home to hisfamily and his unrequited love for another young man.

Gerrans negotiated the dealwith Elisabeth Perlie of Gemini Film, with whom Strand previously collaboratedon Marconi's Love Forbidden.

Strand's 2005 release slateincludes Cote D'Azur (CrustacesEt Coquillages), Tony Takitani,Primo Amore and Tropical Malady.
