UK-based sales company has struck a deal with LA-based Strand Releasing for all US rights to Anthony Byrne's comedy How About You. Strand plans a September launch.

Hayley Atwell stars alongside Vanessa Redgrave, Imelda Staunton, Brenda Fricker, and Joss Ackland. The story is about a young woman who has to run an elderly home over the Christmas holiday. It is based on a short story by Maeve Binchy.

Bankside's co-managing director Hilary Davis struck the deal with Strand co-president Jon Gerrans.

The film is a UK/Ireland co-production produced by Noel Pearson of Ferndale Films and Sarah Radclyffe.

'We are delighted that Strand Releasing will be releasing How About You in the United States. Their track record speaks for itself and we are confident that their individual approach will ensure a very successful release for this thoroughly enchanting film,' Davis said.

Gerrans added: 'We're thrilled to be working with Bankside on this beautiful film.'

Bankside is likely to strike a separate Canadian deal in Cannes.

Bankside has also sold Carl Bessai's Normal, starring Carrie-Anne Moss and Kevin Zegers, to US distributor Porchlight.

In other Bankside deals, the company has sold Alex Holdridge's In Search Of a Midnight Kiss to Greece (Seven), Scandinavia (CCV), Spain (Sherlock), Brazil (Pay TV), Poland (Vivarto), Israel (Orlando), the MIddle East (Shooting Star), Turkey (Bir). The film previously went to IFC for North America and Vertigo for the UK.

Roger Spottiswoode's Shake Hands WIth The Devil has sold to Brazil (Alphaville with Telecine for pay TV), airlines (Jetstream), Greece/Romania/Bulgaria (Lightbox), Middle East (Falcom), Poland (Vitra), Turkey (D) and Israel (Orlando).
