Alex Barder’s Strategic Film Partners has acquired international sales rights to Crooked Arrows starring Brandon Routh.

Steve Rash directed the story about the reluctant coach of a Native American high school team who rekindles the players’ spirits.

Crooked Arrows opens in the US this weekend through Branded Pictures Entertainment in conjunction with Freestyle Releasing and Pandemic Marketing. It will expand wide on Jun 1 and reach Canada in anticipation of the lacrosse world championships in Finland in July.

“This is a fun family-oriented movie that should play very well overseas,” Strategic CEO Barder, who negotiated the deal with Freestyle head Susan Jackson, said. “It’s much more than a typical sports picture, with several positive messages about finding one’s family and spirit and a father and son reconnecting.”

J Todd Harris and Mitchell Peck produced and are understood to have secured funding from more than 50 investors.
