Meryl Streep,Dennis Quaid and Queen Latifah are among those receiving the third annualScreen Idol awards for their portrayal of gay, lesbian, bisexual ortransgendered roles in feature films at this year's Outfest, the LA gay andlesbian film festival which is this year in its 21st year.

Organisers hopeto present the accolades at an closing night ceremony on Jul 21. The festivalruns from Jul 10-21 in Los Angeles.

Streep wins bestactress for her role as Clarissa Vaughan in The Hours while Quaid picks up best supportingactor for his turn as Frank Whitaker in Far From Heaven.

Latifah collectsbest supporting actress for her role as Matron "Mama" Morton in Chicago.

The best actoraward will go to Shane Meier for his performance in the TV film The MatthewShepard Story, about thekilling of a gay college student.
