Susie Q Productions and Mill Ridge Films have optioned JonathanWilson's novel The Hiding Room, which chronicles a European Jew's escape from the Nazis duringthe Second World War.

The story centres on Esta, who flees from Austria to Cairo, whereshe embarks upon an affair with a British intelligence officer who suspects shemay be a terrorist.

Wilson is adapting the screenplay with his new York-based writerson Adam. Susan Leber of Susie Q Productions and Jim Calabrese of Mill RidgeFilms are producing. They previously collaborated on Scott Saunder's comedy TheTechnical Writer.

Leber's credits include Margarita Happy Hour, The Roost, and Bittersweet Place.
