UK-based Swipe Films has taken worldwide rights to controversial Indian film That Girl In Yellow Boots.

Anurag Kashyap’s film has its world premiere in Venice and will then play in Toronto next week.

Kalki Koechlin wrote the screenplay and also stars as Ruth, a 20-year-old English girl who comes to Mumbai to find her long-lost father. She works in a seedy massage parlour and discovering dark family secrets.

Next up, Kashyap (Black Friday, Dev D) is working on Bombay Velvet, starring Aamir Khan and to be produced by Danny Boyle.

Frank Mannion of Swipe Films said: “Anurag Kashyap has a track record of making provocative and controversial movies dating back to his film, Black Friday, which was banned in India. His fans will not be disappointed by this searing portrayal of the seedier side of life in modern day Bombay.”

Swipe’s slate also includes Jackboots on Whitehall.
