Winning short films at the South By Southwest Film Festival will qualify for consideration in the Oscar short films category.
The winners will qualify without the standard theatrical run provided the film otherwise complies with Academy rules.
The final deadline to submit a film for the 2009 South By Southwest Film Festival is December 12. The festival will announce its line-up in early February.
