President of international distribution Ruzanna Kegeyan arrives at the market with the first three titles since The Solution Entertainment Group and LA-based Siren Studios launched the genre production and sales outfit last summer.
Cooties will star Elijah Wood and is set to begin shooting at Siren in April 2013. Saw creator Leigh Whannell wrote the screenplay with Glee co-creator Ian Brennan and the producers are Steven Schneider from the Paranormal Activity franchise as well as Wood and his partners at horror label The Woodshed, Daniel Noah and Josh C Waller.
Ace Norton will direct the tale of a virus outbreak at an elementary school that pits a motley band of teachers against their savage pre-pubescent charges.
Whannell and Brennan will serve as executive producers with The Solution, who arranged financing. Paradigm represents North American rights.
Due Process will star John Cusack and is on the runway for a January 2013 start. Paul Currie will direct from Anthony Derrico’s screenplay about a farmer who refuses to bow to the demands of two big city bankers tasked to foreclose his property.
Mark Holder, Christine Holder and Mark Williams of Zero Gravity Management are producing and The Solution partners Lisa Wilson and Myles Nestel arranged financing and make up the executive producer roster. Siren will provide post facilities.
Rounding out the slate is the horror tale Smiley, which will receive its market premiere at AFM. Caitlin Gerard, Keith David and Roger Bart star in prolific YouTube content creator Michael Gallagher’s story about a young woman stalked by a serial killer.
Michael Wormser produced and Cindy Cowan, Cynthia Shelton Droke, Gallagher and co-screenwriter Glasgow Phillips are the executive producers.
