LosAngeles-based Tales From The Orphanage is planning its first theatrical releasefollowing the acquisition of all North American rights to Royston Tan'sSingaporean debut 15.

The story causeda stir on the festival circuit for its uncompromising portrayal of Singaporecounterculture and stars bona fide street children.

Tales From TheOrphanage plans a January 2005 theatrical release for the picture, which wasproduced by Eric Khoo's Singapore-based Zhao Wei Films, whose credits includeromance Mee Pok Manand comedy-drama 12 Storeys.

Doug Witkins negotiated the deal for Tales From TheOrphanage with James Toh for Zhao Wei Films of Singapore, and producer's repHarris Tulchin for Harris Tulchin Associates.

As yet Tales has no furthertheatrical ventures planned, however it is preparing summer video releases ofdrama Life After All and comedy WeNeed A Vacation.
