Thursday’s daily report from Disney revealed that the Marvel Studios action epic added $20.6m on Wednesday.

The film has amassed $281.1m through Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International

In eight days of release it has passed the final international box office tallies of Captain America ($192m), Iron Man ($267m) and Thor ($268m).

At its current rate The Avengers is on track to overtake the $311.5m final gross of Iron Man 2 by Saturday.
