SATURDAY UPDATE: The superhero mash-up has grossed an estimated $73.1m through Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International from Wednesday through Friday and is active in 41 territories.

Australia leads the way on $11.1m followed by the UK on $9.4m on the back of that $4.1m third biggest Thursday debut of all time. The UK’s two-day result already exceeds the opening weekends of Thor, Iron Man and Captain America.

France delivered $6.8m, Italy $5.8m, Mexico $4.7m for the second biggest opening day of all time on Friday, and South Korea $4.5m.

The Avengers has grossed $3.6m in Taiwan, which incorporated the second biggest Friday gross ever. It took $3.4m in each of Germany and the Philippines, an astounding achievement in the latter

Marvel Studios’ blockbuster has taken $2.8m in Brazil for the third biggest opening day on Friday, $1.8m in Hong Kong for the biggest non-holiday Friday result of all-time and $1.7m in Spain.

Remaining territories accounted for $14.1m from the first three days. In a string of notable Friday debuts, India generated the third biggest opening day for a Hollywood release and thebiggest Disney and Marvel opening day, while Malaysia delivered the biggest opening day of all time, Vietnam produced the second biggest opening day and Iceland delivered the biggest opening day of all time.

The weekend launch accounts for approximately 70% of the international footprint and the film is yet to open in China, Russia and Japan.

Fox International’s Titanic 3D stood at $233.4m as of Tuesday, while Chronicle had amassed $59.4m, This Means War $92.1m and We Bought A Zoo $35.5m. Guerre Est Declaree opens in Germany.

Universal/UPI opens American Pie: Reunion has grossed $59.3m and arrives in Germany, Switzerland and German-speaking Switzerland. Safe House on $75.6m opens in Russia.

Warner Bros Pictures International’s The Lucky One opens in Italy on Apr 25 and Germany on Apr 26. Journey 2 stands at more than $221m.

Sony Pictures Releasing International’s animation Pirates! Band Of Misfits opens in ten territories including Russia. Los Pelayos (The Winning Streak) arrives in Spain.
