Sydney Pollack's United Nations-set political thriller TheInterpreter starringNicole Kidman and Sean Penn will receive its North American premiere when itopens the fourth annual Tribeca Film Festival on Apr 19.

The Working Title/Universal picture is scheduled to open in NorthAmerica on Apr 22 and goes out first in the UK on Apr 15.

The Tribeca screening will take place at Manhattan's ZiegfeldTheatre in association with the United Nations, whose officials allowedunprecedented access to Pollack, his cast and crew, during production.

"We're proud to open our festival with Sydney Pollack's new film TheInterpreter," Tribecaco-founder Robert De Niro said in a statement. "It is especially significant tous since it was filmed here in New York at the United Nations."

"We're thrilled to be working with Sydney Pollack and UniversalPictures and honoured to premiere The Interpreter at the fourth annual Tribeca FilmFestival," added festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal.

The storycentres on a female interpreter who overhears a death threat against an Africanhead of state and is placed under the protection of an FBI agent who comes tosuspect her motives.
