Despite its efforts to create a star-studded event, with Jet Li, Tony Leung and Venice Film Festival director Marco Mueller attending the awards ceremony, the 26th Golden Roosters has again been criticised by some industry players asbeing too dominated by propaganda or the so-called main-melody films.

At a press conference, some Chinese journalists asked whether the jury was too oldto reflect the development of China's film industry in the past one year.

However, Kang Jianmin, chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC), organiser of the awards, inisisted they did not need any reforms.

Organised by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC) and theChina Film Association, the Golden Rooster Awards annually gives out 18 awards selected by a jury of 25 members.
