THINKFilm has acquired all North American rights to Jake Kasdan'scomedy The TV Set andplans a spring 2007 release.

The picture, which premiered at Tribeca this year, centres on thetrials and tribulations of the idealistic writer of a TV pilot. David Duchovny,Sigourney Weaver, Ioan Gruffudd, Justine Bateman and Judy Greer star.

Kasdan produced with Aaron Ryder, and Lawrence Kasdan and JuddApatow served as executive producers.

THINKFilm's senior vice president of acquisitions and businessaffairs Randy Manis negotiated the deal with Cinetic Media.

"If it weren't so funny, The TV Set would be very scary for what it has tosay about the way we live now." THINKFilm's theatrical chief Mark Urmansaid.

"How clever of Jake Kasdan to expose how hard it is to createsomething good in today's dumbed-down America, and then to have createdsomething so good himself."

THINKFilm's upcoming releases include the comedy Keeping Mum; John Cameron Mitchell's Shortbus; Terry Gilliam's Tideland; and the drug drama Candy.
