TLA Releasing has acquiredhome entertainment rights in North America, UK and Ireland to Quentin Lee'ssatirical thriller Ethan Mao, andplans a DVD/VHS release on Sept 21.

The story centres on an18-year-old boy who is thrown out of his parents' house for being gay andreturns on Thanksgiving night to take them hostage. Newcomer Jun Hee Lee starsalongside Jerry Hernandez, Julia Nickson and Raymond Ma.

Ethan Mao premiered at the 2004 AFI Los Angeles InternationalFilm Festival and will get a limited theatrical release through Lee's MarginFilms on Apr 8. TLA will offer the title to select broadcast and pay-per-viewservices.

TLA's director ofacquisitions Richard Wolff and director of legal and business affairsJacqueline Borock negotiated the deal with Margin Films' Lee, co-producerStanley Yung, and attorney Clifford Lo.

"TLA takes great pride inintroducing exciting young filmmakers to the general public, and Quentin iscertainly at the forefront of that list," TLA president Raymond Murray, whospearheaded the acquisition, said in a statement.
