TLA Releasing has acquired North American distribution rights toMiles Swain's award-winning gay romantic comedy The Trip, it was announced today (Feb 6). Thetwo-year-old distribution label, a division of TLA Entertainment Group, willrelease the film initially in New York on May 2 and then platform the releasenationally.

'This was one of the easiest acquisition decisions we ever made,'TLA director of acquisitions and marketing Richard A Wolff said in a statement.'It is a wonderful love story told in a really novel way, and the consistentlyenthusiastic reactions of film festival audiences affirmed our high regard forthis film.'

The picturecentres on an on-off romance between two men who meet at college in 1973 and,following a tumultuous intervening period, reconnect on a road trip in Mexico11 years later. The picture stars newcomers Larry Sullivan and Steve Braun andfeatures Alexis Arquette, Julie Brown and Jill St John in her first filmappearance since 1992. The Trip recently won the HBO Audience Award at the Washington DC Gay andLesbian Film Festival.
