TLA Releasing US is looking to partner with a sales and distribution partner to cut operational costs.

TLA Releasing US is scaling back its distribution business and looking to partner with a sales and distribution partner to cut operational costs.

The company has laid off two of its 17 staff in response to the recession and is also seeking to offload its library of more than 200 gay, horror and international titles for DVD, TV and VOD.

The division will continue to acquire and produce films such as recent titles Redwoods, Shank and Chef’s Special.

Sources stressed the restructure does not affect other entities under parent company TLA Entertainment Group, such as TLA Releasing UK, TLA Video retail outlets or www.tlavideo.com.

“It is an exciting time to re-imagine TLA Releasing in the marketplace, not only as distributors but also as a micro-studio,” TLA Releasing head of production and development Derek Curl said. “We believe that our fourth quarter releasing slate is a strong line-up that will reaffirm the company’s world-wide brand name as a leader in gay cinema.”

“People’s entertainment viewing habits are rapidly changing and the previous structure of a large organisation doing production, post-production, authoring, advertising, warehousing and sales in-house was a model which does not work in today’s market,” TLA president Raymond Murray added.
