Two titles share China's top film honours

Yang Yazhou's Pretty Big Feet and military drama Charging Out Amazon by Song Yeming, were jointly awarded best film at the 22nd Golden Rooster and One Hundred Flowers Awards - China's top film honours - which took place in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province on Tuesday night.

The best director prize was also split - between Yang for Pretty Big Feet and Chen Kaige for Together. The best actress prize was shared by Tao Hong for Life Show - which won best film at this year's Shanghai International Film Festival - and Ni Ping for Pretty Big Feet.

Ning Cai was awarded best actor for Heavenly Grassland - an Inner Mongolia-set drama that screened in competition at this year's Montreal Film Festival.

Pearl Harbor - the top-grossing Hollywood film in China last year - was awarded the prize for best foreign film dubbing.

Meanwhile, Feng Xiaogang's Big Shot's Funeral, China's top-grossing domestic film, won three prizes at the accompanying One Hundred Flowers Awards including best film, best actor for Ge You and best supporting actor for Ying Da. The best film prize was shared with Mu Deyuan's Judge Mama, about an ex-convict who confronts the judge who sentenced him, and Huang Hong's rural drama A Father With His Twenty-Five Children.

Established in 1962, the Hundred Flowers Awards are voted for by Chinese cinema audiences, while the Golden Rooster Awards, launched in 1981, are selected by film critics, directors and producers. China expanded the award ceremonies into film festivals in 1992.
