UK animator MarcCraste has won this year's Cartoon D'or for his dark 12-minute short Jo JoIn The Stars at theCartoon Forum co-production market held in Denmark's Kolding from September21-24.

Described as"a story of love, self-sacrifice and jealousy played out against ablack-and-white world that is both nightmarish and hauntingly beautiful", JoJo In The Stars hadpreviously won the 2004 BAFTA for Best Animated Short Film and first prize atsix other festivals as well as several commendations.

Craste's filmhad been competing against another four nominated films: Daniel Greaves' LittleThings, GaelleDenis' City Paradise,Peter Kaboth's Falling,and Jonas Geirnaert's Flatlife.

The Cartoon D'Orprize includes a grant of Euros 15,000 which must be used for the developmentof a more ambitious project such as a television series, feature film or a filmof at least 26 minutes starting production within the next two years.
