Universal Pictures International Entertainment (UPIE) plans to release 29 titles on the Blu-Ray format for the first time.

The first release will be TV series Heroes Season 2 on Aug 26. Heroes Season 1 will also be available on the same day on Blu-Ray.

Further Blu-Ray releases later in 2008 will be The Incredible Hulk, Wanted, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Mamma Mia! and The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor. Library titles getting the Blu-Ray treatment will include The Mummy, Gladiator, American Gangster, and Miami Vice.

The UPIE Blu-Ray releases will be targeted in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Japan.
