At this year's Finnish film awards, the Jussi, held in Helsinki on Sunday night, Johanna Vuoksenmaa's popular comedy drama Upswing (Nousukausi) took top honours including best film as well as best script for Mika Ripatti and best music for Kerkko Koskinen.

However, the Lasse Saarinen production didn't take more awards than the other top nominated films as the prizes were spread quite evenly this year.

Thus Jarmo Lampela was named best director for Eila, which also won best actress for Sari Mällinen, while Perttu Leppä's Berlin 14plus entry Pearls And Pigs won Mikko Leppilampi a best actor award and named Outi Mäenpää as best supporting actress.

Last year's biggest box-office hit, Aleksi Mäkelä's Bad Boys - A True Story, took the audience award, best cinematography and sound design, while Solar Film's other prize-taker Raid won best supporting actor, Juha Muje, as well as best costume and production design.

The Finnish film awards have been handed out by the film organisation Filmiaura since 1944.
