Paramount Vantage International has closed major sales on 13, Gela Babluani's star-studded English language remake of his 2005 French crime picture 13 Tzameti that just wrapped principal photography in and around New York.

Senior vice president of international sales Alex Walton arrives at the EFM having completed sales to Icon for the UK and Australia, Metropolitan for France, Movie Eye for Japan, Eureka for South Korea, Noble Entertainment for Scandinavia, Swen for Latin America and RCV for Benelux.

Endeavor holds North American rights to the project starring a high-octane ensemble of current Oscar nominees Mickey Rourke and Michael Shannon as well as Jason Statham, Ray Winstone, Sam Riley and 50 Cent.

Babluani wrote the screenplay about a young man who gets sucked in to a Russian roulette syndicate when he steals a mysterious bag. Rick Schwartz, Aaron Kaufman and Valerio Morabito are producing. Walton said buyers were 'excited' about the film's commercial prospects, cast and fresh concept.

Paramount Vantage International's EFM slate includes the reinvention of George A Romero's 1973 thriller The Crazies about inhabitants of a small town quarantined after a toxic outbreak who begin to suspect they may be the victims of a government conspiracy.

Breck Eisner is directing the Overture Films and Participant Media production starring Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell. Overture will handle the North American release.
