Voltage Pictures has picked up international rights from BrandesFilms International to the completed horror-thriller Penny Dreadful.

Sales chief Nicolas Chartier will present the title to buyers atnext month's AFM in Santa Monica, ahead of a limited domestic theatricalrelease on Nov 17 through a partnership between the After Dark Horrorfest andLionsgate.

Richard Brandes directed and produced the story of a woman and hertherapist who encounter a deranged killer on a road trip. Mimi Rogers andRachel Miner star.

Andrew Weiner and Braxton Pope of Ithaka Entertainment alsoproduced, while Anita Sgarro served as executive producer on behalf of BrandesFilms International, which fully financed the project.

"I've known Richard for years and always wanted to sell oneof his titles," Chartier said. "He's a great director, and PennyDreadful is a great,scary suspenseful thriller."

Brandes and Sgarro set up Brandes Films International in2003. Their next feature will bethe noir thriller Dead Man's Bluff, which is set to begin filming in the first quarter of 2007.Brandes will direct and Sgarro will produce.

Voltage mostrecently acquired George A Romero's Diary Of The Dead, which was scheduled to begin productionin Toronto on Oct 11. The slate includes El Cantante, the salsa biopic starring JenniferLopez and Marc Anthony that was picked up at Toronto by Picturehouse.
