Paris-based Films Distribution has closed a deal during AFM to represent In Love We Trust, the latest film from Wang Xiaoshuai, one of the leading figures in China's sixth generation of filmmakers.

The new film is now in post-production and will be ready in time for Berlin. Given Xiaoshuai's glittering festival record - a Silver Bear at Berlin for Beijing Bicycle in 2001 and a Jury Prize in Cannes for Shanghai Dreams in 2005 - In Love We Trust must a strong candidate for official selection at the Berlinale.

In Love We Trust has already been picked up for France by ARP. The project was brought to Films Distribution by Isabelle Glachant, representing the filmmakers.

Starring Liu Weiwei, Zhang Jiayi, Yu Nann and Cheng Taishen, the film follows a mother desperate to save a child with leukaemia. In a bid to provide the bone marrow the child needs, the mother - although happily married to another man - tries to conceive a baby with a former lover.

In Love We Trust is the third project from a Chinese filmmaker picked up by Films Distribution in recent years, following on from Li Yu's Lost In Beijing and Hou Hsiao-Hsien's Flight Of The Red Balloon.
