World sales outfit We Distribution has closed deals for the $23 million budget Peter Chan produced Bodyguards And Assassins. Metropolitan took France and TMC took Turkey.
The announcement cames after the film swept 18 nominations from the Hong Kong Film Awards which just announced on Tuesday, now a total of 24 nominations including six from the Asia Film Awards.
The film has been released in more than 10 Asian Territories and has racked up more than $50 million to date. UK, Canada, Middle East, Eastern Europe, Latin America will release in second quarter 2010. Japan deal is in final stage of negotiation.
Bodyguards And Assassins is directed by Teddy Chen (The Accidental Spy, Purple Storm) and stars Donnie Yen, Leon Lai, Tony Leung Ka Fai, Nicholas Tse and Eric Tsang.
