The Weinstein Company has appointed Negeen Yazdi vice president of acquisitions and co-productions, based in the company’s London office.

TWC COO David Glasser announced the news; Yazdi will report to Peter Lawson, EVP acquisitions and co-productions.

She will generate new projects for TWC as well as building on existing relationships with filmmakers and actors. She will also oversee the day-to-day operations of the London office.

She comes from three years at Universal Pictures International where she was director of worldwide acquisitions and worked on projects including David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method, Andre Ovredal’s The Troll Hunter, and Tomas Alfredson’s Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Prior to UPI, she worked in the Literary Division at Independent Talent Group.

Lawson said: “Negeen is a bright star, we have watched her career develop within the business and she has proved to be a true tour de force.  Her taste and reputation precede her and we are very excited to have her join us.”

Yazdi added: “It is an exciting time for independent film and TWC continues to be at the forefront, making defining moves that drive the business forward.  I couldn’t be happier to be working with this talented and dynamic team.”

TWC’s recent European acquisitions and productions include The King’s Speech and the forthcoming My Week With Marilyn, Coriolanus and The Iron Lady.
