WestEnd Films has completed a number of sales on teenage thriller-drama Chatroom.
The UK-based company has struck a deal with Universum Film for German distribution. Universum is also executive producer on the film.
Other distributors to have boarded the film include Diaphana (France), BIM (Italy), Seven Films (Greece), ECS (Middle East), Vision (Pan-Eastern Europe),VTI (Ex-Yugoslavia) CMC (Taiwan) and as previously announced Pathe (UK).
The Ruby Films production for Film4/UK Film Council/ WestEnd Films is to be directed by Hideo Nakata.
Enda Walsh wrote the screenplay and Laura Hastings-Smith produced. Eve Schoukroun, Sharon Harel and Maya Amsellem at WestEnd are executive producers. Shooting will start this summer. WestEnd Films is financing the film with UKFC, Film4 and Molinare.
The youth-orientated thriller will star young British actors Aaron Johnson, Imogen Poots, Matthew Beard, Hannah Murray and Daniel Kaluuya.
