Wild Bunch Benelux has been on a mini-acquisition spree, company boss Pim Hermeling has confirmed three new pick-ups.

The company has swooped for Diego Luna’s dramatic directorial debut Abel (acquired from Cinetic.) The comic parable about a troubled nine-year-old who tries to take on the role of family patriarch screened last month in Sundance’s premieres section.

Wild Bunch Benelux has also snapped up Brotherhood, by first time director Nicolo Donato, the Golden Marcus Aurelius Jury Award winner at the Rome Festival last October. This was bought from TrustNordisk.

The third new acquisition that Hermeling has confirmed is Juan Jose Campanella’s The Secret In Their Eyes, a love story/police procedural drama that has sold widely since making its festival bow at Toronto and San Sebastian last autumn. The film, sold by Latido, was recently nominated for a foreign language Oscar.
