Wim Wenders will receive the2006 Miami International Film Festival's (MIFF) Career Achievement Tribute,joining a distinguished roster of previous winners that includes Liv Ulman and Hector Babenco.

"Weare proud to pay tribute to this legendary director, writer, and producer whosecontribution to the spirit of independent cinema continues to inspirefilmmakers around the globe," festival director Nicole Guillemetsaid.

Wendersburst on to the scene in the late 1960s and was at thevanguard of the New German Cinema movement. His credits include Kings Of The Road, Wings Of Desire, and Paris, Texas.

Morerecently he directed Vista Social Club,which will screen on the closing day, and Don'tCome Knocking, which stars Sam Shepard, Jessica Lange, Tim Roth and Sarah Polley and will also play at the festival.
