Women Make Movies (WMM) has acquired Min-Sook Lee’s documentary My Toxic Baby at Toronto.
The 46-minute film screened last weekend in the Short Cuts Canada Programme 1 section and examines the numerous toxins found in a baby’s food, bedding, clothing, toys and home.
“This is a personal film essay as I took the journey into mothering and realised that in a chemical world, I was my daughter’s first line of defense,” Lee said.
Her credits include Tiger Spirit, which was also distributed by WMM and received a Gemini Award nomination for best social/ political documentary.
“We are thrilled to be acquiring My Toxic Baby,” WMM executive director Debra Zimmerman said. “It’s a strong and important film by a talented documentary film-maker.”
