Working Title Films is to start shooting romantic zombie comedy Shaun Of The Dead in May, the UK-based production powerhouse confirmed on Tuesday.

Edgar Wright, who directed hit TV series Spaced, is directing the story of a group of friends who encounter a literal night from hell at their local pub. Nira Park is producing from an original screenplay by Wright and Simon Pegg, who also stars with Nick Frost, Kate Ashfield and Lucy Davis.

Produced through WT2, Working Title's low-budget division, and Big Talk Productions, the project was previously based at FilmFour.

James Wilson, formerly deputy head of production at FilmFour, is executive producing along with WT2 chief Natascha Wharton, Alison Owen and Working Title heads Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner.

Wright described the idiosyncratic project as "a naturalistic comedy about the zombiefied existence of late twenty-somethings, crossbred with a full-scale zombie invasion."
