The world premiere of Zhang Yimou's Curse Of The Golden Flower starring Chow Yun Fat, Gong Li and JayChou will close AFI Fest 2006 on Nov 12.

The story involves imperial intrigue on the eve of a major Chinesefestival at the time of the 10th century Tang Dynasty.

The picture was recently named China's foreign language Oscarentry, and will be released in North American through Sony Pictures Classics.

"Without a doubt, Zhang Yimou is one of the finest filmmakersof his generation," AFI Fest director Christian Gaines said. "Hisstories, characters and stunning imagery have captivated audiences worldwide.

"To host the world premiere of his newest masterpiece in our20th year is truly an honour."

AFI Fest organisers also unveiled the jurors for its internationalcompetition jury: actors Wilmer Valderrama, Daryl Hannah, Lisa Gay Hamilton andChristine Lahti; filmmakers Don Roos, Wash Westmoreland, and Vondie CurtisHall; short film distributor Susan Petersen; and critic John Anderson.
