Pedro Almodovar's Volver won the Hollywood World Award sponsored by Screen International, at the Hollywood Film Festival's HollywoodAwards gala on Oct 23.

The film's star Penelope Cruz accepted the award on Almodovar'sbehalf and read a note of thanks from the film-maker.

Oliver Stone's World Trade Center won the Hollywood Movie of the Year Award chosen by a public online poll on yahoo.com. It beatout fellow nominees Cars, The Da Vinci Code, The Devil Wears Prada, Little MissSunshine, Mission: Impossible 3, Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest,Superman Returns, United 93, and X-Men:The Last Stand.

As previously reported, special honours went to SonyPictures Classics co-presidents Michael Barker and Tom Bernard for leadership;the Film Foundation for film preservation; Robin Williams for career achievement;and Stone for directing.

Mike Medavoy collected an award for producing; Forest Whitaker, PenelopeCruz, Ben Affleck, and Sandra Bullock for acting; the cast of Bobby for ensemble acting; Eric Roth forscreenwriting; Vilmos Zsigmond for cinematography; Joel Cox for editing;Gustavo Santaolalla for film composing; John Myhre for production design; andPenny Rose for costume design.

Kris Evans won for make-up; John Knoll for visual effects; Disney/Pixar'sCars for animation;and Francine Maisler for casting.

Derek Luke and Lindsay Lohan were honored with the festival's breakthroughactor and actress awards, and Ryan Murphy collected the Hollywood BreakthroughDirector of the Year Award.

"There isno more appropriate place than the Hollywood Film Festival to honour theillustrious talents of all these magnificent artists who have created some ofthe most memorable characters and truly unforgettable films," festivalfounder and executive director Carlos de Abreu said.
